Handler’s Summary
After a failed attempt to get turned into a wendigo the victim is left alone and slowly loses her mind. Only carnage can bring her closer to the cruel god she is now bound to.
Delta Green takes notice when a crisis worker combs through the ruins of Ashland, Kansas and finds a church stuffed with corpses after a tornado obliterated most of the town.
The Agents have to follow the trail of destruction to stop the last ritual before the wind-walker gets summoned.
Background
Marcy Stone used to be just a self-help guru travelling from ministry to ministry and visiting a lot of churches in the midwest of the US.
She was a proud believer until after she was taken and subjected to the cruel experiments of someone who used to be a sorcerer of The Fate before its fall.
They wanted to create a pet but after not being able to replicate the ritual and creating an abomination rather than a full wendigo they dropped her like a broken toy.
Marcy, completely broken, lost her mind but her freshly implanted god took notice.
It took months but she is again in control enough to continue her self-help group as a scheme to take a lot of human lives as a way to summon her god.
On June 25th 2025 she picked the group back up in Ashland, Kansas, but the summoned storm and following tornado did not bring enough death and carnage so she moved on to the next stop.
Ashland, Kansas
The Agents arrive (or are even part of the first responders and/or FEMA) in Ashland on short notice from DG on June 26nd 2025.
They only get told the following:
- An EF05 tornado tore through the city of Ashland, KA, yesterday.
- It obliterated half the city moving south to north after appearing out of thin air.
- The body count as of today measures 29 dead or missing.
- The tornado stopped right with the First Christian Church placed in its eye.
- There are 14 dead bodies in the church showing signs of mutilation with the building still intact.
- The Agents are part of a hastily put together task-force of the FBI investigating those deaths.
The mission is for the Agents to find out what happened and stop any unnatural phenomena that may be going on.
They are handed a bulletproof truck and an emergency kit with flare guns, handheld flares and first aid kits.
Deputy Blackbird
The deputy is guarding the perimeter once the Agents arrive, he knows what awaits them inside and is superstitious about the crime, he is well read and often pulls out a dog-eared occult book.
He can tell the Agents stories about skinwalkers and other native tales but should never mention the name “Wendigo”. He will however not talk about it unless questioned.
He can tell the Agents that the antlers of a “Wendigo” can be used as a ward against them.
First Christian Church
From the outside the church looks almost untouched, like a sturdy rock firmly placed between the destruction around it.
It is cordoned off with police tape but flashing their badges grants access. Everyone seeing the carnage for the first time needs to roll SAN for violence (1d4/1d8).
The 14 bodies are strewn in the church, the carnage is presented clearly. Chunks of flesh lie everywhere and the carpet is soaked with big amounts of blood. All 14 bodies present died from shock related to their wounds.
All covered in blood, missing chunks of flesh and upon inspection (Forensics / Medicine / Surgery) Agents learn that all wounds are inflicted by biting, no defense wounds; it looks as if they fell into a frenzy and started cannibalising everyone.
During a field autopsy the Agents can also determine their organs show signs of being starved a long time.
What to find here
Search - The church was booked by “Find The Light In Jesus”, a christian self-help group that deals with mostly addicts; every body in the church is local which can be discovered by checking wallets.
Firearms - While at least half of the bodies seem to carry weapons, no bullet was fired.
Alertness - There are traces of permafrost around the church as if everything in the eye of the storm dropped temperatures drastically.
Occult - Hidden in the podium are buck antlers which radiate cold. Touching it without gloves inflicts 1 point of damage from frostbite. Around the antler are dried, bloody skin with blonde hair (The antler can be used as a potent weapon against Marcy if the Agents speak with Deputy Blackbird).
Find The Light In Jesus (FTLIJ)
On the day of the massacre the self-help group held a meeting in the church. Their traveling group targets mostly addicts of all kinds.
Their online instagram presence shows them touring through the midwest. With Dodge City, KA 50 miles to the north as their next stop. The rest of the online presence is mostly motivational pictures and stories.
The owner is called Marcy Stone but the Agents can’t find a picture of her.
It seems she had to cancel the last weeks due to poor health conditions and Ashland was her first stop of the tour again.
The newest instagram story thanks attendees for asking about her safety and she is in great health so the session this evening will start at the allotted time.
The Descent
After the Agents found most clues or enough to process their phones simultaneously go off showing an Emergency signal telling them to seek shelter.
Checking weather services show a supercell forming over Dodge City although the earlier reports indicated nothing alike.
If the Agents don’t drive there the scenario ends here as Itla-Shua bellows in a new age of ice.
Dodge City
Getting there
On their way to Dodge City the Agents will witness multiple events that occur around them.
- A tornado forms in the north west of town, as it touches down behind a giant wedge the tornado seems to be a “Dead Man Walking” as two funnels intertwine. The Agents need to roll POW as Itla-Shua starts its descent. On a success they feel hungry, on a failure they feel as though they just came out of a one week fast and will suffer a 10% penalty.Should they fumble the animalistic spirit will take over and they regard everything as prey only stopping once unconscious.
- Cars start crashing into each other as people lose the focus to drive and start rampaging. Drive to evade oncoming traffic without a crash.
- Frenzy is breaking out in the streets, the Agents see what happened inside the Ashland church here on a bigger scale and notice it is escalating. SAN (1/1D4) from violence.
- Once the tornado starts moving (a-typically south to north in the direction of the church) the Agents can hear voices of loved ones from the howling wind as if luring them into it. SAN (0/1) from the unnatural.
Oratory of Our Lady of Guadalupe
The Agents find the church with not much time to spare, there is nobody around and the only thing cutting through the howling wind are the emergency sirens.
As the Agents move through the church itself they hear dampened sounds of perverse worship and feral screams. The ground floor is empty and invokes a feeling of intense dread. Agents have one final breather checking their gear before moving down through a narrow stairwell into the basement where only a single door separates them from blasphemous worship.
The Ritual
The room is barren but filled with corpses, when the Agents enter there are 1DNumberOfAgents civilians still standing and ready to pounce on anything that resembles living flesh.
Behind a hastily assembled shrine of bodies stands Marcy Stone calling for her god, her skin is gray and blue, antlers are sprouting out of her blonde head and have developed better although show abnormal signs.
She is 2D4 turns away from completing the ritual and calling Itla-Shua into this world for good.
The Agents can use their firearms to deal with her but here are some other options that make the fight more interesting and fun for non-combative Agents.
- The Flaregun can be used via Survival and does double damage against Marcy.
- The antlers can be used to break connection and suppress the ritual. If used against a civilian with an Unarmed Combat roll the antlers break their frenzy and they drop. If used on Marcy, only stabbing her and having it stay in her body stops the ritual but not her.
- There are a few bookshelves in the basement that can be toppled onto her with a successful STRx5 roll and stun her one turn.
Resolution
If the Agents don’t stop the ritual Itla-Shua brings forth a new age of ice, or alternatively the ritual is flawed and “just” the surrounding hundred miles get put into a permafrost (not a world-ender).
If Marcy is stopped the tornado subsides.
The Agents gain 1D8 SAN back.
