General Description
There are gods, and then there are gods. Some come from the stars, great beings larger than humans with powers beyond measure. At the same time, you can imagine they were once mortal - they have bodies and definite places where they dwell. These are what we call the Great Old Ones.
Then we have the gods that walk among the stars, who give birth to stars. These are the gods that are part of the fabric of creation. These are the ones for whom our planet is beneath their notice, let alone our human needs and whims. These are the beings we call the Outer Gods.
There is a third group, called the Elder Gods. They seem to be opposed to the Outer Gods and Great Old Ones, but that is just a human interpretation of the little sliver of experience a handful of people of had. These are human names for inhuman things.
Great Old Ones
He who lies dreaming. Cthulhu is one of the most powerful beings on Earth, but lies at the bottom of the Pacific ocean in a deathlike state. He will awaken only when the stars are right, and show mankind that giants can still walk the Earth.
A little-known and little-worshiped being associated with fire. There is a town in Germany that is known to be home to his worshipers, and there are many more in the Middle East, unknown to Western scholars.
It is unknown whether Dagon is an individual, a group, or a title within the the Deep One species. It is just known that he is a monstrously large example of those sea-dwelling beings, and is revered by them.
This being shows that seeing things only in a human scale is foolish. It is planet-sized, drifting between the stars. It is possibly associated with Nemesis, as well as the periodic mass extinctions on planet Earth.
