Blue is such a calming color to us hairless apes. It helps make the world look peaceful at a distance. That's the way it looks on maps. Blue water, brown land, all boxed in by the comforting straight lines we call latitude and longitude. But the closer you get, the more cracks appear: places no human has returned from. There are strange places on Earth and elsewhere, in the waking world and in the Dreamlands, in the present day and not.
