“Deep within the wilderness of Mount Mitchell State Park, strange plants reveal an abandoned missile silo that should not exist.”
BACKGROUND
Project EDENSHADE
- The 1950s U.S. Government, fearing nuclear holocaust, approved top secret projects to combat this threat. Project EDENSHADE was one such venture; an experiment dedicated to proliferating life on the moon for the American people. Testing and research took place at the SB-501 NC Silo from 1959 to 1965.
- The SM-65 Atlas Missile was used for delivering the payload, a CDC 6600 Supercomputer loaded with an eldritch equation, unto the moon.
-Unfortunately, EDENSHADE became a vector for Hypergeometric incursion, transforming the staff into undying lifeforms and causing aberrant plants to proliferate. This is known as the EDENSHADE Anomaly.
-The project suffered a catastrophe and was covered up by the Federal Government. Nearly 30 years later, the EDENSHADE Anomaly is spilling unto the North Carolina countryside.
SB-501 NC Silo Personnel
- Most missile silos are managed by the Corps of Engineer Ballistic Missile Construction Office (CEBMCO),except for SB-501 NC.
- Chief of Engineer Walter K. Wilson JR. secretly approved Project EDENSHADE while his successor, William F. Cassidy, shelved it.
- Head Engineer Zachary Carlson, de facto leader of the Project.
- Head of Biology Anthony Graham, who first discovered the EDENSHADE Anomaly.
- 7 engineers, 4 botanists, and 3 mathematicians attempted to complete Project EDENSHADE while 8 soldiers guarded the base.
The Horror
-Apocolothoth, “the Growth Beneath God's Paradise”, is a malevolent geometric concept that endlessly replicates life. This phenomenon occurred from the CDC 6600 Supercomputer running an altered Cayleh Graph Equation based on the Tanach-Barksi Paradox.
- - Essentially, being able to divide a finite sphere into many finite parts and being able to construct two spheres which are completely identical to the original. For example, a pea seed can be cut up and reassembled to perfectly capture the sun according to this paradox.
This infinite cloning can be applied to any lifeform within the Supercomputer’s vicinity. All altered organisms are considered the “EDENSHADE Anomaly”
- The EDENSHADE Anomaly is powered by the CDC 6600 Supercomputer performing the Equation. This device is modified to be resistant to most forms of damage.
- Explosives, either from 2x C4 Charges or from detonating the missile, will destroy the Supercomputer. The Equation (each expression represents 5 physical points of observable reality, with a 6th expression, e-1, grafted onto the equation. This alteration is the cause of the EDENSHADE Anomaly)
CURRENT EQUATION [red is the alteration]
a-1bab*b-1a-1bab-1 = a-1babb-1a-1bab-1 = a-1baea-1bab-1 = e-1= a-1baa-1bab-1 = a-1bebab-1 = a-1bbab-1
— The hypergeometric solution would be to remove the 6th expression,e-1,from the Equation running on the Supercomputer. A Computer Science or Mathematics Skills Check would suffice as well.
The Monsters
- The aberrations that stalk the silo are the Angular Plants, Failed Specimens, Apolloks, and Malformed Clones. None of the above creatures can be physically destroyed, except by altering the Supercomputer or through Hypergeometric rituals. Any attempts to shoot, explode, or burn the creatures will spawn 1D6 clones that will swarm the attacker.
Angular Plants
- All botanical life within and around the silo are Angular Plants. Any Skills related to Botany will reveal that these specimens do not exist anywhere else in the world. SAN Loss: 0/1D4
Apolloks
- A fusion of animals, plants and silo personnel that folds endlessly into itself. Primary motive is to harvest unblemished genetics from the Agents, but will sporadically attack.
Failed Specimens
- Plant/animal hybrids that are stationary. An amalgamation of vines, hoofs, teeth flowers and other mismatched anatomy. Located around the Garden and in holding cells. SAN Loss: 1/1D6
Malformed Clones
- Strictly spawn around the Missile itself, assuming the stats of any Agents who have been damaged by any of the Silo’s denizens. Primary motive is to hunt the Agents.
BRIEFING
Date: June 21st, 1991, 2:32pm
Location: Yancey County, NC
The Agents are tasked with investigating an abandoned missile silo that does not exist in official records. Delta Green wants to assess the usefulness of this location in combating the Mythos.
This mission is not a firefight.
AGENT’S LOADOUT
- a DuPont Tychem 10000 Level A HAZMAT Suits with Kevlar Lining (2 armor)
- a GI Plus 18’’ Machetes (1d8)
- 100ft rope + grappling hooks
- CD V-718 Geiger Counter
- a HZS Resource Sampling Kit
OTHER EQUIPMENT (Limited quantities)
- 2x M9 Flamethrowers with 1x backup fuel tanks each (15% Lethality, 10m Kill Radius)
- 1x 1991 Macintosh Portable Computer
- 8x Charges of Composition C-4 (15% Lethality, 10m Kill Radius)
HANDLER’S NOTES
- HAZMAT Suits are useless against Hypergeometry but it does protects from the hostile environment.
- -Roll LUCK every time a character receives damage. A failed roll causes the suit to be breached and the character will lose 1d4 SAN every turn unless a successful Repair check is performed.
- Geiger counters will not detect any radiation within the silo.
- Every time a character enters a new room, roll 1d6 silently; any result of a 2 or a lower causes the character to lose 1 HP and 1 SAN.
- Destroying the Supercomputer, or the missile, will irreversibly mutate everyone in the Silo while causing the Apocolothoth Formula to spread outside, dooming all of North Carolina. Destroying or deactivating the generators instead of the Supercomputer will cause the Silo to implode, killing everyone inside.
- There are two ways to escape;, Altering the Equation on the Supercomputer (Mathematics or Computer Science) or breaching any of the walls with explosives. The latter is “cutting through” the hypergeometric manifold.
WALKTHROUG
Outside
- Only visible entrance is the Access Chamber.
- Angular trees, shrubs, and flowers are scattered throughout the Silo. There is a Blast Door that has mostly rusted away and is coated with insectile vines. The door is coated with what appears to be Milkweed.
[Hyperbolic Spaces]
- By entering the Access Chamber, the Agents are trapped in a horse-saddle manifold and cannot return to the surface. This revelation triggers a SAN test (1/1d6). The only way out is by breaching any of the walls or disabling the Supercomputer.
- The longer the Agents stay in the Silo, the worse the spatial distortions become. Eventually, the Agents will travel a predestined path towards the Missile, no matter where they travel.
- - Roll SAN (0/1d4) and CON checks during severe spatial alterations: failure causes -20% on all Skill Checks for the next 1d6 rounds.
- - Consult the map for recommended travel in non-euclidean space.
Access Chamber
[It is up to the Agents to reduce the dangers of each path through whatever means necessary]
Path 1: Elevator Shaft
- The elevator shaft’s descent is a 70ft drop, with a 11% lethality rate on a critical fail.
Path 2: Stairs
- can take the stairs, but they are about to collapse into a sinkhole. Roll AGIL; fail causes 10% lethality.
Path 3: Tree
- Agents that climb onto the tree must make a LUCK roll or have their suits breached. Otherwise, they easily climb down and can enter the Hallways.
[Note: any Agents who attempt to climb back up will end up into the Hallway instead of the Outside.]
Living Quarters / Hallways
- Abandoned areas with two Apolloks wandering around. Plant growth is moderate here
Silo Center
Altered reality becomes more apparent. Baffling amount of trees and shrubs obscure the area. Pertinent information is located around the Launch Center and Library. 5 Apolloks are distributed around the area.
CLUES
- Tanach-Barski Ritual, scribbled on a chalkboard. Causes 1/1d6 SAN loss if examined closely. Gain 1d6% Unnatural on SAN Loss.
- - Cayleh Graph
- logistics for CDC 6600 Supercomputer
- Classified Orders from CEBMCO Head Noel Craig; titled “Project EDENSHADE”
- Notes on the following Lunar Missions: Luna 2, Luna 3 and Ranger 7

The Silo
- A baffling amount of trees, plants and dying animals surround the Missile. Touching the plants here causes 1d6 damage and 1d6 SAN loss.
- 6 Apolloks roam the Silo.
- Reality is severely distorted here.
- Malformed Clones will attack the Agents the first time they approach the Missile and will pursue them across Hyperbolic space.
- Looking upon the Supercomputer itself causes a SAN Loss (1d4/1d20). SAN fail results in 1d6% Unnatural gain and the victim witnessing “all of existence folding inside a black hole”.
- - It can be deactivated via a Hypergeometric Ritual (Significant Scope) or through manually changing the Equation.
