Zimmerman Library

The main library for the University of New Mexico, Zimmerman Library is a stunning mixture of classical and southwest architecture. A beloved feature on campus, it houses a dark secret.

Beneath the ground level of the library lies the Underground Conservation Laboratory; a large facility protected by heavy security paid for by the Voelz Grant Conservatory. Behind steel vault doors and kevlar walls rest some of the most dangerous of the mythos grimoires. Zimmerman Library holds one of the largest collections of mythos tomes, easily eclipsing Harvard and even the University of Iowa. The conservation lab is filled with expensive preservation and book conservation equipment, but it is also outfitted with a military grade armory and collections of artifacts used to make protective tools and talismans. Anyone peeking into the armory would find 75 pounds of Semtex with two boxes of detonators, 17 fragmentation grenades, 4 MP5 submachine guns, 5 Heckler and Koch G3-A3 assault rifles, 4 Remington 870 express 12 gauge magnum shotguns, 4 Beretta 9mm pistols, 1 Ruger GP 100 .357 magnum revolver and 1 Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull with about four hundred rounds available per weapon. The armory also contains several sets of body armor and numerous melee weapons.

The responsibility for the security of this facility rests with Robert Crucian, the "Reference Liaison to Special Collections". Crucian not only protects what Zimmerman has, he is regularly called upon to expand the collection; often by violently collecting dangerous works from the myriad of mythos cults infesting the Albuquerque area (many of whom, ironically enough, have come to try to obtain something held by Zimmerman).
